BioAfter months of listening to me say, "Gee, I really should join livejournal one of these days, but all the good names are taken!", my brother IMed me one night asking me to name a song I really liked. The first thing that came to mind was "End of the Summer" by Dar Williams (a truly glorious summer (both in terms of my personal life and the weather) had abruptly given way to a distressingly gray and chilly September; it seemed appropriate). Had I known what he was going to do I would have considered my choice more carefully, which of course is why he didn't tell me what he was planning. The next morning I got an email saying, "Welcome to livejournal! Your new username is thefieldsbeyond," and another email from my brother saying "See why I wanted the song now? I wanted to do something like 'send our children to the moon,' but it wouldn't fit."
The takeaway point of all this is that my brother is adorable. (-:
Anyway, here I am. I suppose some introductions are in order. (I'm never sure what exactly people would be interested in learning from these thingers; if I've missed something, let me know.) I'm currently an undergrad at Cornell, majoring in Astronomy and regularly signing up for more fun, out-of-major classes and extracurricular stuff than I can truly handle with sanity intact. I read voraciously. I'm starting to rediscover how much I like to write, which is part of the reason I'm here. Sometimes interesting things happen to me; I intend to record them. Beyond that, I suppose you'll have to see, won't you?
